April 1 is International Bird Day. In order to enhance the awareness of ecological protection among young people and sow the seeds of civilization for caring and protecting birds, the Qianwan New Area Public Security Bureau in Ningbo recently launched a series of activities to popularize the rule of law for loving birds on campus.
"Hi kids, do you know what common birds are in Qianwan?" "What should we do if we see a bird injured?"... On March 31, at the Binhai Experimental Campus of the Haizhen School and the Binhai Primary School, police officers came to the classrooms to give a lecture on the theme of caring and protecting birds for students.
In the early stage, we collected the needs of 14 primary and secondary schools as well as kindergartens in the New Area for popularizing relevant rule of law through a survey. The relevant person in charge of the Qianwan New Area Public Security Bureau said that this series of activities is expected to last for two weeks, and that local police stations and teams will gradually go to relevant schools to carry out environmental protection legal publicity and safety knowledge education and training programs.
In 2023, the Hangzhou Bay Wetland Ecological Police Joint Work Station was established, and in 2024, the Hangzhou Bay Wetland Judicial Protection Center was established... In recent years, the New Area's Public Security Bureau, together with multiple departments, has jointly leveraged the advantages of judicial expertise and continued to explore a new wetland protection model of "professional law enforcement and case handling + comprehensive protection practices + diversified source governance". In addition, while continuously strengthening its daily inspection capabilities, the sub-bureau is empowered by technology to achieve comprehensive monitoring of key areas using monitoring, drones, and other equipment.
Since the beginning of this year, the Public Security Bureau of the New Area has actively cooperated with the New Area Natural Resource & Planning Bureau, the Market Regulatory Administration, the Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Team and other departments to carry out joint law enforcement inspections of the "Clean Wind Action 2025" in the Qianwan New Area, severely cracking down on illegal wildlife trade and illegal bird-catching activities, and effectively strengthening the protection of wildlife resources. Since the establishment of the Hangzhou Bay Wetland Ecological Police Joint Work Station, the Qianwan New Area Public Security Bureau has severely cracked down on various crimes and illegal activities that damage the ecological environment. A total of 14 criminal and administrative cases of illegal hunting, environmental pollution, and other crimes that damage the ecological environment have been solved, and 34 illegal criminals have been arrested. More than 160 wild birds have been released.
